Focus and Scope
ACADEMIA encourages papers on reported research results, procedures and methodologies; theoretical analyses in Higher Education; comparative approaches and international aspects of practice and policy with a view to identifying transferable methods, systems and good practice. ACADEMIA especially wishes to focus on the social dimension of Higher Education and the relationship between University, Democracy and Labor Market.

Peer Review Process
- Submitted manuscripts must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere or have already been published.
- All articles undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by at least two expert referees. No more than one of these referees is a member of the Journal’s editorial board.
- Initial editor screening is also supported by plagiarism checks via the tools provided by University of Patras.
- The identity of the authors and their affiliation details are blanked out to ensure a double-blind review.
- Papers are selected for publication based on scientific competence and the significance of the knowledge or ideas presented.
- The Editorial Board reserves the right to refuse to publish an article if there is evidence that it reflects or supports sexist, racist and generally offensive comments or opinions, which are directed against a cultural, religious or ethnic minority.
- The views expressed in ACADEMIA are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Editors or Higher Education Policies Network.
Open Access Policy
Academia provides instant open access to all of its content in support of the principle of supporting global knowledge sharing by making the results of scientific research freely available to the public. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, or use for any other legal purpose the full text of the journal's articles. Articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license.
In order to operate it has a number of costs which require funding. Unfortunately, to date, no funder has been found to ensure Academia's operating needs.
Thus, a fee policy was decided upon which it is hoped, on the one hand, would not exclude anyone and, on the other hand, would cover the operational needs of the review.
The fee policy to be applied to all articles submitted from 1/4/2022 is as follows.
Article Processing Fees
- General publication cost: EUR 150
- Publication from a funded project: EUR 300 (with thanks to the funder)
- Publications from low or medium-low development countries or by a student or students of all levels of independent origin 100% discount (if publication is in the context of a funded program, the corresponding price applies).

- Deposit of fees in the project's bank account with reason: 82049_Name, where NAME is the name of the corresponding author

Ethical guidelines for journal publication
ACADEMIA is committed to ensuring ethics in publication and quality of articles. Conformance to standards of ethical behavior is therefore expected of all parties involved: Authors, Editors, Reviewers, and the Publisher.
In particular,
Duties of Editor
- Publication Decisions: Based on the review report of the editorial review board, the editor can accept, reject, or request modifications to the manuscript.
- Review of Manuscripts: Each editor must ensure that each manuscript is initially evaluated by the editor for originality, making use of appropriate software to do so. Following desk review, the manuscript is forwarded blind peer review to the editorial review board who will make a recommendation to accept, reject, or modify the manuscript.
- Fair Review: The editor must ensure that each manuscript received by ACADEMIA e-journal is reviewed for its intellectual content without regard to sex, gender, race, religion, citizenship, etc. of the authors.
- Confidentiality: The editor must ensure that information regarding manuscripts submitted by the authors is kept confidential.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: The editor of ACADEMIA e- journal will not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for his/her own research without written consent of the author.
Duties of Authors
- Reporting Standards: Authors should present an accurate account of their original research as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Manuscripts will follow the submission guidelines of the journal.
- Originality: Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original work.
- Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publications: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. It is also expected that the author will not publish redundant manuscripts or manuscripts describing the same research in more than one journal.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: Authors should acknowledge all sources of data used in the research and cite publications that have been influential in the research work.
- Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study. Others who have made significant contribution must be listed as co-authors. Authors also ensure that all the authors have seen and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript and their inclusion of names as co-authors.
- Data Access and Retention: Authors should provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and must retain such data.
- Fundamental Errors in Published Works: If at any point of time, the author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in submitted manuscript, then the error or inaccuracy must be reported to the editor.
Duties of Reviewers
- Confidentiality: Information regarding manuscripts submitted by authors should be kept confidential and be treated as privileged information.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: Manuscript reviewers must ensure that authors have acknowledged all sources of data used in the research. Any kind of similarity or overlap between the manuscripts under consideration or with any other published paper of which reviewer has personal knowledge must be immediately brought to the editor's notice.
- Standards of Objectivity: Review of submitted manuscripts must be done objectively and the reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
- Promptness: In the event that a reviewer feels it is not possible for him/her to complete review of manuscript within stipulated time then this information must be communicated to the editor, so that the manuscript could be sent to another reviewer.
